As part of our Green Schools waste research, our wonderful 6th Class has calculated the difference between the kilogrammes of waste in 2024 vs 2025. The total kilogrammes of waste in 2024 was 1,167kg while in 2025 it was 777kg. The difference between 2024 and 2025 was 390kg. We then had to calculate the percentage difference between 2024 and 2025. First of all, we turned it into a fraction. We divided 390kg by 1,167kg. Then to turn it into a percentage we multiplied it by 100. The result was an astonishing 33.4% reduction in the weight of waste. Well done to everyone for playing their part in the waste reduction and a special thanks to our Green Schools representatives for helping others understand the importance of what we are doing here in St. John’s.
